I contacted The Dawn Practice following a late ADHD diagnosis, seeking support to process the impact of living for decades with undiagnosed ADHD. I wanted help understanding how my brain works, addressing the trauma associated with years of being misunderstood and developing practical strategies to manage the challenges of everyday life as a neurodivergent person. From the very beginning, Laura provided a compassionate, supportive, and non-judgemental space where I felt truly heard. Through our sessions and the additional assessments I undertook, I have gained invaluable insight into how my mind works. This understanding has allowed me to reframe many past experiences with greater self-awareness and self-compassion. I particularly appreciated the open and flexible approach to therapy, which enabled me to set the pace and focus on the areas that mattered most to me. This personalised approach has helped me gain maximum benefit from the process and has had a genuinely positive impact on my wellbeing. I would highly recommend The Dawn Practice to anyone seeking support in understanding their neurodivergence, building self-compassion, and learning how to thrive in a world that is often designed for neurotypical minds.

Where do I start…absolutely first class treatment at The Dawn Practice. There are so many places out there and it can be so confusing. I highly recommend The Dawn Practice to anyone who may require help. Jennifer Robertson dealt with us from first interview until final report. Jennifer was incredibly knowledgeable and understood our concerns that we had with our son. The report was incredibly in depth and recommendations to help our son now and in future. Cannot recommend them enough. Thank you The Dawn Practice and Jennifer for being amazing with our son and for all your help.

We are incredibly grateful for the support to our daughter over the past year. One of the most helpful aspects of her treatment has been the way the clinician helped her understand OCD in a clear, age-appropriate, and non-frightening way. Learning to recognise OCD thoughts for what they are, and not treat them as facts, has been a huge step forward for her.

The practical strategies the clnician introduced — particularly around managing intrusive thoughts, reducing reassurance-seeking, and gradually facing fears — have been invaluable. We’ve noticed a real increase in her confidence and resilience, and she is now much better able to tolerate uncertainty and anxiety without becoming overwhelmed.

We also found the clinician’s calm, consistent approach extremely reassuring as a mum. The guidance the clinician provided to me on how to respond to OCD behaviours, without reinforcing them, has helped create a more supportive and consistent environment at home. This has made a noticeable difference to her progress.

Overall, our daughter has gained tools and understanding that we feel will continue to support her well beyond the end of therapy. We are very thankful for the care, patience, and expertise the clinician showed throughout her treatment.

We looked very carefully at several clinics before choosing this clinic to assess our son for Autism and ADHD. From the very first chat over the telephone before our appointment, to the final discussion the staff were fabulous. Vicki was so kind caring and professional and it was obvious that her knowledge of ASD/ADHD was second to none. Both the GP and school commented that the report was the best they had seen for this type of assessment. I can thank herself and Camilla for the support they gave to my son and ourselves and I would highly recommend this clinic for assessment.

“In my role providing Dr Brougham with clinical supervision, I’ve learnt that she has
enormous experience of working with people with a wide range of types of neuro-
divergence, including autism and intellectual disabilities.  Also, Dr Brougham is very
compassionate and always practises in a neuro-affirmative manner.  In short, she
leaves no stone unturned to ensure that her clients receive the best service
possible.”

We met with Aileen (Occupational Therapist), who assessed our then 4-year-old girl Eilidh for Dyspraxia (DCD) and for a sensory profile. Following her diagnosis, Eilidh has been receiving support from Aileen for the last 18 months. Part of that process involved Aileen linking in with her school, which has been immensely helpful in supporting Eilidh in all areas of her life. As parents, we now feel that we have a better understanding of Eilidh’s Neurotype, and we have developed a toolkit which we can use to help her. Any suggestions that Aileen gives us are always clear and feel like achievable goals. Everyone in the clinic is always very warm and welcoming on arrival. We think it speaks volumes that Eilidh is always excited to attend and feels safe when visiting. Eilidh is now thriving, and the difference has been truly incredible. We asked Eilidh what she thought, and she said, “I like Aileen, she is kind and she helps me with my busy brain”. We highly recommend the clinic to other parents seeking support for their neurodivergent children.

I honestly cannot put into words how grateful I am for the care, support, and guidance I’ve received from this psychology practice. From the moment I walked in, I felt seen, heard, and valued. The environment is warm, welcoming, and professional — a true safe haven for anyone seeking help with their mental health.

The clinician I’ve been working with has been nothing short of exceptional. Their compassion, insight, and deep understanding of human psychology have made an incredible difference in my life. They don’t just listen — they truly get it. Every session feels meaningful and purposeful. Whether we’re working through past trauma, navigating current stress, or building healthier patterns for the future, I always leave feeling lighter, more empowered, and more connected to myself.

This experience has not only improved my mental health — it has completely transformed the way I see myself and the world around me. I’ve learned to manage anxiety in ways I never thought possible, found strength in vulnerability, and developed a more positive, resilient outlook on life.

For anyone who may be struggling or just feeling stuck, I can’t recommend this practice highly enough. It’s not just therapy — it’s a journey back to yourself, with a truly gifted clinician by your side every step of the way.

Thank you for helping me rediscover peace, purpose, and hope.

I worked with Dr Lindsey Watson and Clare Lyons at the Dawn Practise over a number of weeks for a combined adult assessment for autism and ADHD. The appointments were spread across the Wellington Street and the Bath Street locations. The whole process was genuinely amazing, the staff are so professional and so understanding throughout. The standards are extremely high, and all the care was carried out face to face which makes a big difference. It is an expensive process, but fully worth it in my opinion, as you are getting a standard of healthcare I’ve genuinely never experienced before. No slight at all on the NHS processes as they have to work within bounds they can’t control – it was just fantastic to see how efficient and personalised the whole assessment system can be. If you are at all considering an assessment for anything similar, I genuinely can’t recommend them highly enough.

I was incredibly fortunate that I was able to privately fund my ADHD diagnosis journey, which resulted in me having choice and control over the Psychiatrist that supported me through the journey. After reading the biographies on the clinicians within the Dawn Practice, I chose to go with Professor Craig Melville. From our very first session, Professor Melville’s compassion and attentiveness stood out. He created a space where I felt heard, understood and never judged.

Professor Melville clearly had a wealth of knowledge in his field of practice, but further to this, I feel that he used his expertise to empower me rather than overwhelm me. Once diagnosed with ADHD-inattentive type and Social Anxiety, he helped me understand that these diagnoses were not just about medication, but also learning, self-awareness and developing strategies hat worked for me. Professor Melville was holistic, person-centred and I never felt once that he pushed a generic one size fits all solution.

Even after diagnosis, Professor Melville remained consistently supportive and ensured that I had all information I needed to make informed decisions during the titration process. He has always been receptive to follow up questions, open to discussing challenges I have encountered post-diagnosis and I feel he has been genuinely invested in me and my journey. Professor Melville never pushed me to continue with any appointments and always made me aware of my right to share information with the NHS and pursue diagnosis/ further appointments with them. It was clear that his motivation comes from a genuine want to help others and not for financial gain – further evidencing his integrity and dedication to the profession and his patients.

I am fortunate that my GP has accepted shared care and I am now under the care of the NHS. However, I have recently been in touch with Professor Melville again as I feel that his approach worked better for me and again, he has been receptive to helping and has shown a genuine interest in me.

If you have the means to go with the Dawn Practice, I could not recommend Professor Melville highly enough. He combines clinical excellence with genuine warmth and the advice and guidance he has given me to help me better understand myself has been crucial in me making positive change in my life.

I initially sought support from Dr Brougham to help manage my Social Anxiety but what came from a couple of sessions has been much deeper and more meaningful; Dr Brougham is helping me rediscover and rebuild my relationship with myself.

Even after a few sessions, Dr Brougham was able to identify that although my anxiety was causing difficulties in my life, there was more at play and as such has supported me to reframe from quick fixes to a journey of feeling better about myself. From the very beginning Dr Brougham has shown nothing but compassion and understanding. I chose Dr Brougham because of her biography as it noted interest in neurodivergence, which has been invaluable as it has meant that I have felt truly seen and supported in ways that I can’t say I have experienced before. Dr Brougham has never rushed the process or looked to impose quick fixes but has gently helped me uncover what is underneath my anxiety; a need to nurture self-acceptance.

Dr Brougham has adapted her working to a way that works best for me including her ability to redirect my conversations when trying to avoid difficult subjects, in a calming and warm manner. Dr Brougham has utilised visual tools as it helps me better understand and offers ‘homework’ that is supportive in my journey but does not give me a sense of overwhelm. Throughout our sessions, Dr Brougham has equipped me with practical tools and thoughtful perspectives that are helping me better understand who I am and how, as a neurodivergent individual it can be difficult to fit into a neurotypical world. Dr Brougham has made me recognise that it is not only about managing surface level symptoms but transforming and reframing thoughts.

Although I have a long road ahead, I genuinely feel that I am on a path to becoming a more grounded, confident and kinder version of myself and although I have played a part in this change, I cannot thank Dr Brougham for the massive influence she has had in helping me in this journey of change.

I cannot recommend Dr Brougham highly enough for anyone who is neurodivergent and is looking into talking therapy. It is clear that Dr Brougham has a wealth of expertise in the field of neurodivergence and if you are looking for talking therapy where the clinician shows genuine empathy and walks alongside you with patience and care, then I could not recommend her more.

I’ve been made to feel at ease from my very first appointment at this practice. The reception staff are very welcoming, and each clinician I’ve met have been understanding and compassionate.

I’ve come to understand myself more over the past year which has helped me manage situations in my own life which I was struggling to work through.

I am very grateful to Dr Brougham for her knowledge, support and patience. She has helped me recognise certain things about myself that I had not considered before. I highly recommend the practice to anyone considering therapy or support.

Having made the decision, at the age of 53, to investigate issues throughout my years, I was directed to this Practice by a trusted health professional.

I was made to feel comfortable and welcome from my initial online contact, phone call, assessments and then through a diagnosis of combined Autism and ADHD.

My family was also included in the process and they were made to feel comfortable throughout the process too.

Following my diagnosis and feeling I needed further support to understand my thought processes and behaviours, I decided Dr Laura Brougham and the Dawn Practice was the best place to receive post diagnosis counselling. There was no need to go through my background again as she was involved in the assessment making this continuation, seamless.

The Dawn Practice has given me tools and strategies to help me navigate life with the new knowledge and understanding that I have gained and continue to gain.

I would highly recommend the Dawn Practice.

I would highly recommend The Dawn Practice to anyone struggling with their mental health. The care I’ve received has been incredibly compassionate and supportive. Investing in my mental health through this practice has truly paid dividends. I feel more grounded and better equipped to navigate challenges.

I also encouraged my partner to attend, and they now go to the Bearsden location. We’ve both had such positive experiences. Receiving such quality care has made a meaningful difference to our wellbeing, both individually and together.
