Bio

Morven is an Associate Educational Psychologist at The Dawn Practice with over 20 years’ experience working across Scottish, English and international educational systems – in both the public and private sector. She has broad experience working alongside children and young people, families, schools and multi-agency partners to develop a deeper understanding of individual learning and developmental needs and to identify approaches that enable children and young people to thrive.

Morven has extensive experience in the individual assessment of developmental and learning needs, using evidence-based approaches to inform practical and meaningful intervention. Her experience encompasses a broad range of areas, including assessment and intervention to support neurodevelopmental disorders, complex learning needs, specific learning difficulties, and challenges due to social, emotional and behavioural needs.

Alongside her experience of working directly with children, her work has also involved supporting parents and school staff through consultation and training workshops, running groupwork for young people and contributing to local authority policy and practice. Morven also provides therapeutic support for children and young people experiencing anxiety, emotional distress and school-related difficulties.

Morven offers a warm, collaborative, solution-focused and strength-based approach. She places particular emphasis on ensuring that the voice of the child/young person is heard and valued throughout the assessment and support process. She seeks to support children/young people, families and schools to develop a clear and compassionate understanding of an individual’s learning and developmental profile, strengths and needs, and to feel empowered to identify and implement the support that will make a positive difference.
