Bio

 
Dr. Karen Mackenzie is an HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist with nearly 20 years of experience across a wide range of clinical settings. She provides high-quality psychological therapy in a warm, down-to-earth, and non-judgemental way, supporting both children and adults with common mental health and emotional difficulties.

 

Karen began her career as a Child and Adolescent Therapist in paediatric psychology at the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow, later continuing this work at B.C. Children’s Hospital in Vancouver. Since completing her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, she has worked with adults, older adults, and those experiencing complex neurological difficulties in both community and hospital settings.

 

She has also held senior NHS roles as a Principal Clinical Psychologist in adult and older adult services and currently works within maternity and neonatal services, providing specialist support during the perinatal period.

 

Karen takes an integrative approach to therapy, working collaboratively with individuals and families to help them move towards their personal goals. She has additional training in a number of evidence-based approaches including CBT, EMDR, ACT, CFT, and interpersonal therapy, and has particular expertise in trauma, adjustment to unexpected life events, anxiety, low mood, perinatal support, and relationship issues.
