The Dawn Practice Launches in Glasgow and Ayr Ahead of World Mental Health Day

Dr Michelle Muniz and Tomas Garcia are delighted to announce the launch of their newly independent mental health clinic, The Dawn Practice, in Glasgow and Ayr on October 1, 2025. This comes in the lead-up to World Mental Health Day on October 10.

What Is the Dawn Practice?

The Dawn Practice is a cluster of five mental health and neurodivergent support clinics based in Glasgow and Ayr. The clinic brings together a multidisciplinary team of nearly 50 psychologists, psychiatrists, and speech and language therapists, offering compassionate mental health and neuroaffirmative care. All clinicians are fully registered, highly experienced, and committed to delivering trusted, evidence-based therapies.

The theme of “dawn” is symbolic of the hope and new beginnings that our clients experience when they seek support from our clinicians. Just as dawn marks the end of darkness and the promise of a new day, the name symbolises emotional renewal, personal growth, and forward movement. We believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to start again, to rise with warmth and support, and to step into a brighter future.

Our History

Michelle and Tomas are a husband-and-wife team; they have been franchisees of a trusted mental health clinic for nearly 10 years, addressing mental health needs in the Greater Glasgow and Ayr area and working in partnership with NHS services to reduce waiting times. The transition to an independent model will allow them to provide the same high-quality care, but with a more personalised and progressive approach.

In response to those considering mental health care, Dr Muniz says, “You’ll rarely regret seeking support—it can be profoundly life-changing, helping you shift your focus forward, instead of feeling stuck or weighed down by the past.”

Our Vision

We understand that many people struggle with mental health and/or integrating neurodivergent brain differences with daily living. According to a Mental Health Foundation survey, 6 in 10 adults in Scotland experienced anxiety that interfered with their daily lives in the previous two weeks.

In the meantime, NHS waiting times continue to rise, and as a consequence, needs are not being adequately met. We want to give you hope that things can change and provide a personalised, reliable roadmap that will help you along the way.

We aspire to build a recognised service that improves lives through earlier access, seamless experiences, and lasting impact, raising the bar for ethical, evidence-based mental healthcare and inspiring new standards across the industry.

The dedicated Dawn Practice team will continue to collaborate with GPs, NHS partners, and charities to provide timely, evidence-based therapies for all who need them.

Our Services

Earlier this year (May 2025), the Royal College of Psychiatrists in Scotland (RCPsych) called for stronger neurodiversity services in Scotland, reflecting the rising prevalence of Autism and ADHD. A Holyrood report has also identified the discrepancy between increased mental health challenges and limited mental health funding.

The Dawn Practice directly responds to these concerns by providing access to trusted, evidence-based therapeutic support, including:

  • Neuroaffirmative care : Assessment, diagnosis, and support for Autism, ADHD, and other neurodivergent needs.
  • Mental health treatment : Compassionate treatment for conditions like anxiety, depression, phobias, and PTSD.
  • Comprehensive support : Integrated team of psychologists, psychiatrists, and speech and language therapists.
  • Personalised approach : Evidence-based therapies across the lifespan, tailored to individual and family needs and goals.
  • Trusted expertise : Our clinicians have decades of experience supporting communities across Greater Glasgow and Ayr.

“Your concerns and your experiences are valid. If you were to come to the Dawn Practice, we would make sure that you were heard, listened to, and valued. We would work together to achieve your goals.” — Dr Laura Brougham, Dawn Practice Clinical Coordinator

Where to Find Us

The Dawn Practice operates in five locations, with sites in Glasgow City Centre (Bath Street and Wellington Street), Newton Mearns, Bearsden, and Ayr.

The theme of this year’s World Mental Health Day relates to “Access to Services.” With high demand for mental health services in the West of Scotland, the Dawn Practice’s wide reach makes it easier for clients to access mental health resources in their area.
